OPERATION CATS PLATOON
The NGO located in the Koudou falls area is active in ecological monitoring felines throughout the park W. These are the lion, leopard, cheetah, caracal, servals, wild cats. Its mission is to set up patrols on a smaller area to begin (30 000 hectares) in order to create a pilot and show that this type of organization can be extended to the entire park.
Actually the study of the presence and behavior of cats presupposes that these animals grow and are not threatened. The idea is to give the Felines Platoon monitoring objectives to make it an anti-poaching unit.
A team of trackers and eco-guards from Benin will be built in order to begin the mission in the area selected.
Our project is to organize training about anti-poaching methods for this brigade. It is also to carry a minimum of equipment and advise on the organization of the protection force, conducting patrols.
Following the on-site audit conducted last few months, we know the level of operators and expectations of management. So we have prepared a very operational training plan.
We are also considering the possibility of working with the CENAGREF organization to expand the training system in order to create coherence between the teams.
